Happy Halloween!

We weren't quite sure how to plan for this Halloween (knowing that we'd probably have a newborn). Holly had a costume in mind for Kaylee, but thank goodness for her sister Kelly! She's so crafty! The only thing that we bought for Kaylee's costume was the pink leotard and tights. Autie Kelly made the rest of the costume! We think that it turned out so great!

We had no idea what to do for Zack. Thanks goodness for grandmas! (What? My grandchild needs some clothes? Don't worry...I'm on it...) Gramma Niecee FedEx'ed us over a little pumkin costume that she found. He's drowning in it, but looks so cute!

He's Here!!!

We're so happy to say that our little baby boy, Zackary Drake Thomson, is finally here! He was born on Saturday, October 24th at 3:14pm. He weighed 7 lbs 7 oz and was 19 inches long. Want the story? Here it is...

All week long we were wondering WHEN he would finally come. We went to the doctor's on Monday and she was at a 3. Then back on Wednesday and she was at a 4. The doctor told us to go home and start walking. So we did. Nothing happened. Thursday evening Holly started feeling contractions (nothing painful though) around 5-10 mins apart so we called the doctor and she told us to go to the hospital. Of course, they slowed down and went away so we had to go home. We thought for sure something would happen on Friday! Nothing happened on Friday.

We were starting to wonder when this would happen! We finally had to come to grips with the fact that he would come when he was ready. Feeling ok with that (like we had any control over the situation anyway), we went to bed Friday night content that it would still be a while before the baby came. As our luck would have it, Holly woke up at 2am on Saturday morning and as soon as she stood up, her water broke. So we called the hospital and by 4am we were there. They got her all situated, and we anticipated having a baby by noon or so (Kaylee came after only 5-6 hours of labor). Well we were wrong again. She wasn't having any contractions, so they decided to start her on pitocin at about 7am. After a few hours, contractions were 5 mins apart or so, but still no pain.

She got her epidural around 10:30am (because we were told either get it now or you'll have to wait 2 hrs) and was at a 5 by noon. SO SLOW...

They eventually increased the pitocin and things finally started rolling. By 3pm she was ready to push, so they called the doctor (who had just barely left to go get some gas in her car). So as soon as she got there, Holly pushed for about 10-15 mins and he was born!

Holly did a fantastic job! She looks great for just having delivered a baby (and smiling, too)! ;-)

Kaylee just LOVED meeting her baby brother. She wanted to hold him and give him kisses and hugs. As parents, we couldn't be happier! Look at all of these adorable pictures!

Lots-O-Pics!

We kept uploading pictures and kept forgetting to write about them. Then we uploaded more...and more. So it's a long post this time (but a good one)!

We're anxiously awaiting the arrival of our little boy. We've been trying to prepare the best we can. Kaylee knows all about her 'baby brother' in mommy's tummy and is excited to rock him to sleep, help mommy and daddy change his diapers and give him baths. She's gonna be a great big sister! She's growing up so fast, it's crazy! Since the last post...

she's been wearing 'big girl Dora' underwear and going on her potty quite well! Yeah for Kaylee (and mommy)! Look at that cute little cheaker! ;-)

She's also been sleeping in her new 'big girl' bed!

And yes - it's a Dora bed (she LOVES Dora).

She's also been doing lots of crafts to help her learn her letters ('I' is for igloo here)...

She also been able to go to museums. She had a great time at this one!

The Dynamite Kid!

This post is short, but we wanted to share some fun videos of Kaylee swimming this summer. We've had our seasonal 'end of August - early September' heat wave, and so the pool has been a must lately.

Kaylee was a little timid of her 'dynamite' pool floaties at first, but after gaining a little confidence, she's never looked back! Her GGpa nicknamed her The Dynamite Kid. We hope that you all enjoy these videos of her!
