Love for the Little Girl

This is going to sound cheesie, but it is so true that you never really know the love of a parent for a child until you experience it for yourself. We both just absolutely love being Kaylee's parents. She's only been on this earth a tad under 6 months, but it seems like she's been with us forever. Does anyone else understand how we feel? It's just truly amazing. Now we are beginning to understand what it means to have joy in your posterity. Life is great!

Messin' around with my silly Daddy!

This is what I do to get out of taking a nap! Works every time!

Oh, no! She's going after the phone already! And look how sneaky she's being!

She's found a new obsession with her feet...she can't get enough of them.

She was really stylin' in these...

She loves going over to Gramma's house to play.

We couldn't leave uncle Eddie out of the blog. Poor Eddie has done well adjusting to not being the center of Gramma's attention anymore. We're teaching him how to sit up and read just like Kaylee...he seems to be enjoying himself!

Yummy, yummy! Rice cereal!

Who would have ever thought that you could get so excited over rice cereal?! Our little girl is growing up so fast (sob, sob) it's crazy! We think that Kaylee has been ready to start solid foods for a while now (grabbing at our food, cups etc.) and so we decided that this would be the weekend. We thought that it was such a milestone that we even went out and bought a video camera just for the special event! She did better than we thought (no sour faces or anything). She seemed more interested in the spoon than anything else and more of it ended up on her bib than in her tummy, but hey, it's a start.

GGma and GGpa bought Kaylee a highchair yesterday so we had to put some new pictures of Kaylee in her new 'big girl' chair!

Enjoy a video of Kaylee and her rice cereal making history!

Sittin' Pretty

We love watching Kaylee sit up like a big girl (she's been doing a lot better at that now). She just loves reading books. Just look at her expressions! We'll tell you a story about her experience...

Ah...nothin' like a good book...This one's called "Where is Baby's Belly Button?"

Hmm...I don't really understand what these letters mean...

Grandma...what does this book say?

My belly button is where?! Oh my goodness!

That's it, I've had enough of this book...

A Visit from Uncle Primmy

Well Kaylee had quite an exciting week. Her uncle Dustin had a class in Torrance this week for his helicopter school and so he was able to stay with us. He always says that he's Kaylee's favorite uncle because he visits her the most. He's very good at keeping her entertained. We all sure did love having Primmy here with us! Good luck in school!

Awe, don't they look cute together?

Kaylee has a fascination with cups. Whenever you put one in front of her face she grabs at it furiously. Don't worry, she didn't drink any of uncle Primmy's Mountain Dew!

It sure is rough waking up!

And we just had to put this picture in...we just absolutely love this one!

Heat Wave!

Kaylee turned 5 months old today. My how time flies! She had her 4 month check up on Aug. 24th (even though she was closer to 5 months). She weighed 15 lbs. 12 oz. and was 25 1/2 inches long. This puts her in the 75th percentile for weight and height. She got 4 more shots and ended up getting a fever that night as a result. No fun!

This last week was quite hot! Yesterday it was 101 degrees, which everyone knows is perfect barbecuing weather, right?. Well we decided to escape the heat, we would let Kaylee go swimming for the first time this weekend. She really enjoyed the nice cool water (after the initial
shock, of course). Here are some pictures from this weekend.

Now this isn't so bad after all. Quite refreshing, actually.

Now for a more serious look.

Everybody just loved Kaylee in the outfits that Jared's aunt and cousin's got for her. Thanks so much!

Kaylee wasn't quite sure what the funny things on her feet were, but she'll learn that every outfit needs a good pair of shoes, right?!

A Good Laugh

We had a very hard time sorting through our vast collection of Kaylee pictures. They're just all so cute! Holly finally got a good video of Kaylee laughing this week - we've been waiting for this for quite a while now. Every other time that we tried to get it on video, she would stop laughing as soon as she saw the camera and would stare at it instead. She's not talking as much these days either - she prefers looking around curiously at everything, taking it all in. At least we know that she has a curious mind!

Here is Kaylee and her Grandma reading a story before bed time. (Notice the cute teddy and blanky!)

Here is a Kaylee right before her first luau (Jan puts one on every summer). We were a little disappointed that the picture was blurry!

Summer Fun

Kaylee turned 4 months old last weekend. Boy how time flies! Well she's already been to the beach 3 times now - I guess we have a real California girl now!

Grandma decided to get Kaylee a new outfit for church. It was for Holly's birthday (which is tomorrow!).

Bounce bounce bounce! She loves her bouncer because she's able to stand up by herself and look around at everything. It makes her feel like a big girl!

She's discovered that she has a tongue. She just loves holding on to it and feeling it move as she talks (she's become quite the talker too).

Cute Baby!
